Kosher hotel proposed near Seminole Hard Rock

A developer has proposed a Kosher hotel across the street from the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood.

Sharon Sharaby said the hotel would have a Kosher restaurant with food specially prepared for Jewish observance, a synagogue space and electronic devices, such as elevators that operate automatically during the Sabbath so observant Jews don’t need to touch them.

“I can capture the Jewish audience, as well as people who are not Jewish who are looking for great service at a great price,” Sharaby said.

He plans to charge $120 to $150 per night, which is considerably less than the Seminole Hard Rock directly to the property’s west.

On Feb. 19, the City of Hollywood Technical Advisory Committee will consider the proposal for a 100-room hotel by the Shoppes of Hard Rock LLC, managed by Sharaby. His company has a 99-year lease with landlord Kaliff Corp. on the 2-acre site at 5530 S. State Road 7. It currently has a McDonald’s restaurant, which would remain after the hotel is built.

The presentation labels it the “Rock Hotel”, but Sharaby said it’ll be called the Kosher House.

The six-story hotel would total 87,124 square feet and have 104 parking spaces. There would be a restaurant and pool on the rooftop. The first two floors would be parking, with the rooms starting on the third floor.

It was designed by architect Joseph B. Kaller.

Sharaby said the hotel restaurant would serve meat Kosher food. There would be no dairy in the hotel, in observance of the Kosher rule of not mixing milk and meat. There would also be vegan options, he said.

He’s currently searching for a hotel management company, Sharaby said. He doesn’t plan to sign a deal with a national brand.

The Seminole Hard Rock is undergoing a $1.5 billion expansion with a guitar-shaped hotel that will give it a total of 1,107 rooms. It also has an event center, casino games, a spa, restaurants and night clubs.
